At House Decor Interiors, we specialise in bespoke, made to measure curtains designed to fit your windows perfectly. Our online collection is one of the most extensive available, offering custom curtains at highly competitive prices without compromising on quality or finish.

The fabrics for our custom-made curtains are selected from the finest ranges, and all our made to measure curtain linings are available in a range of natural colours. Choose thermal or blackout to protect against fading and provide better insulation. Our style options for made to measure bespoke curtains are Pencil Pleat heading as standard, whilst Pinch Pleat, Eyelet and Wave headings are also available. Our range also includes made to measure blackout curtains, which have a special lining designed to effectively stop the light from coming through the fabric and offer thermal protection.

Every curtain is produced using carefully selected fabrics from premium designer collections. All made to measure curtains are supplied with linings available in white, ivory, cream or pale ivory. These help to reduce fading, improve insulation, and enhance durability. The Pencil Pleat heading is our standard, with Pinch Pleat, Eyelet or Wave styles available as optional upgrades. We also supply made to measure blackout linings which feature thermal protection and significantly reduce light through your window.

What Does “Made to Measure” Mean?

Made to measure curtains are produced specifically to your exact dimensions. Unlike ready-made curtains sold in fixed sizes, bespoke curtains are tailored to your window, ensuring a precise fit and a more refined appearance. This approach avoids common issues such as excess fabric, short drops, or poor coverage.

Our curtains are professionally manufactured in house by our talented seamstresses with the latest machinery. You also benefit from custom styling options not typically available with off-the-shelf curtains, including trimmings, matching cushions, pattern matching options, etc.

Eyelet Curtain Headings Explained

Eyelet curtains feature metal rings that slide directly onto a curtain pole. We offer 2 sizes; 40mm eyelets suitable for pole diameter up to 35mm and 66mm eyelets for those larger poles up to 50mm. A wide range of colour options are available to match your pole or other fixings in the room.

This heading style creates uniform, symmetrical waves and offers a clean, contemporary appearance. Eyelet curtains are particularly well suited to modern interiors and work exceptionally well with plain or geometric fabrics for a simple, stylish finish.

What Are Pinch Pleat Curtains?

Pinch pleat curtains are considered our most refined and traditional heading option. The fabric is stitched into structured pleats at the top, creating a tailored and elegant drape. Featuring a built in curtain hook on an adjustable guide for easy install and adjustment. This style requires more fabric than pencil pleat or eyelet headings, resulting in a fuller look and improved insulation.

Thanks to their timeless design, pinch pleat curtains complement both classic and modern interiors. When paired with vintage or heritage-inspired fabrics, they can bring a luxurious, country-house feel to any room.

Pencil Pleat Curtains – A Versatile Classic

Pencil pleat is the most widely used curtain heading style. The name comes from the neat, narrow pleats formed when the heading tape is drawn together. This tape allows you to adjust the fullness yourself, giving you control over how tight or relaxed the pleats appear.

Unlike many ready-made curtains that arrive pre-pleated, our made to measure pencil pleat curtains are sent flat to allow complete flexibility, making them suitable for both poles and tracks.

Popular Curtain Colours and Current Trends

Neutral shades such as white, grey, and ivory remain consistently popular in British interiors due to their clean and versatile appeal. However, neutral does not have to mean plain. Our fabric ranges include subtle textures, woven details, and understated patterns that add depth without overwhelming a space.

For those seeking a stronger statement, we also offer bold and expressive designs. Recent collections feature rich blues, deep browns, and darker, moodier tones that work well in both contemporary and traditional settings.

Are Curtains Effective for Energy Efficiency?

Curtains play a key role in reducing heat loss through windows. Our made to measure curtains already offer excellent insulation due to their tailored fit and quality linings. For enhanced thermal performance, we recommend adding our interlining option.

This insulating layer is between the fabric and lining layers, improving energy efficiency while also giving the curtains a fuller, more luxurious appearance. It is a practical solution for keeping rooms warmer during colder months and adding fullness while still ensure a custom fit.

Curtain Poles vs Curtain Tracks

Curtains are generally fitted using either a pole or a track. Curtain poles are the most common option and are compatible with most of our heading styles. Pencil pleat and pinch pleat curtains require curtain rings with hook attachments, while eyelet curtains fit directly onto the pole.

Curtain tracks are ideal for challenging spaces, such as ceiling-height windows, bay windows, or curved walls. Made from flexible materials, tracks can be shaped to fit awkward layouts and are particularly discreet in appearance.

Do Blackout Curtains Fully Block Light?

We offer blackout lining across all curtain styles to significantly reduce light entering the room. As with all curtains, some light seepage may still occur around the edges or through stitching. This can be minimised by extending the curtain past the window edge above and to the side as appropriate.

Our in house seamstresses are extremely talented with many years of experience therefore treat each curtain with the upmost respect and undergo quality control checks throughout the process.

How Should I Measure for Curtains?

Curtains should be measured to the usable width of the curtain pole or track, rather than the window itself. If you have not yet installed a pole, we recommend choosing one that extends beyond each side of the window reveal approx. 10cm. This allows the curtains to stack neatly when open and frame the window attractively.
